The Citizen Potawatomi Nation Emergency Management Department began working to anticipate community needs even before a devastating tornado hit Pottawatomie County on the evening of April 19. Following the storms, CPN coordinated with agencies all over the state to provide relief to those affected.
Following a series of severe storms in southeastern Oklahoma this May, CPN’s Emergency Management, FireLake Discount Foods, Health Services, Workforce Development and Social Services, and Grand Casino Hotel & Resort all mobilized to partner with nonprofit aid groups and the affected communities to respond to the disaster.
Each year, AARP awards Native American elders for their contributions to the improvement of their tribes and communities. Citizen Potawatomi Nation member and Emergency Management Department Director Tim Zientek was chosen in 2021 as one of 47 elders recognized for his “achievements, community service and impact,” according to the organization.
Geographically, the City of McLoud has areas of lower ground, one between two housing editions, and in the past, weak signals left it as a dead spot. The new tower bridges the area and provides clear audio.
