Submissions for the 2026 Juneteenth Art Contest are now being accepted. Contestants are asked to watch a brief video about Juneteenth (cpn.news/honorjuneteenth) and respond through the artistic medium of their choice.
Theme for 2026: Juneteenth Brings Balance to America’s Celebration of Freedom
Students are encouraged to be creative with their inspiration; Juneteenth-focused visual art, poetry, essays, TikToks, YouTube videos, and more are welcome. Each student may submit multiple entries. Entries should reflect the student’s creative efforts and should not contain AI-generated material of any kind. The contest is open to any student, Native or non-Native, grade 4 through 12 at any school.
Winners will be selected from 4th through 8th grade and 9th through 12th grade age groups. Winners in each group will receive cash prizes. Winners will be recognized at a Juneteenth Reception hosted by Citizen Potawatomi Nation and Dunbar Heights on June 12th.
Submissions will close Sunday, May 31 at 11:59 p.m. CDT.
