Citizen Potawatomi Nation staff worked Sunday afternoon, evening and through the night helping victims of a tornado that ripped through Pottawatomie County.

The Citizen Potawatomi Nation Police Department had officers assisting other agencies in rescue efforts.

“We called in extra units, it was all-hands on deck,” said Jim Collard, CPN police chief.  “We’re doing anything we can to help.”

The CPN’s emergency management team also assisted by providing some food and water to first responders and has resources on standby to offer more assistance and supplies as necessary.

“We are working with the Red Cross, the City of Shawnee and county officials to make sure they know we are standing by to help however we can,” said Tim Zientek, who heads up CPN’s emergency response team.

“We are grateful that none of our properties were damaged, we are glad we are able to help those in need from this storm,” said Rocky Barrett, Chairman of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
