SUMMARY:Healing over time: Understanding the neurobiological changes of addiction and recovery
DESCRIPTION:Citizen Potawatomi Nation Behavioral Health Services presents this free community event on understanding addiction and its impact on the brain. There will be a presentation by Dr. Julio Rojas\, Ph.D.\, LADC\, followed by a panel of individuals at various stages of recovery. Booths featuring community organizations\, agencies\, family resources\, and recovery & support groups will be present. There will be door prizes! \nDr. Julio I. Rojas is a Licensed Health Service Psychologist and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor for Citizen Potawatomi Nation Behavioral Health Services. His work has focused on treatment and training issues related to addictive disorders\, psychiatric comorbidity and trauma\, with dedication to advancing the understanding of substance use disorders and use of integrated treatment. \nDr. Rojas was previously an Associate Professor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Throughout his award-winning career\, he has held various leadership roles in both state and national psychological associations\, contributed to educational videos\, been an expert witness in opioid trials\, and helped create progressive clinical treatment for a new addiction recovery center in Edmond\, OK. \nThis event is approved 2 hour CEU for LADC\, CADC\, LPC and LMFT and 20 hours of community service.

For decades\, Lee has campaigned to make Juneteenth a federal holiday. lee helped to lead a 2.5 mile walk in recognition of the 2.5 years it took for the news of the Emancipation Proclamation to reach Texas. In June 2021\, at the age of 94\, Lee joined President Biden as he signed the bill to make Juneteenth a federal holiday into law. \nAdditional speakers include Tribal Chairman John “Rocky” Barrett\, Gary Jones\, Rev. John A. Reed\, Rev. Major Jemison\, Anastasia Pittman\, Rev. Clarence Prevost\, Marcus Clayton and Bruce Fisher. \nThis event is sponsored by Citizen Potawatomi Nation\, Oklahoma Baptist University\, the Avedis Foundation and Bethany Children’s Health Center.

DESCRIPTION:CPN Workforce and Social Services will host a Summer Project Showcase at CPN’s Cultural Heritage Center on August 2 and 3\, 2022. Projects can include cooking\, art or science projects\, growing plants and more\, and must be submitted by August 1 to Sandie Rogers at Workforce and Social Services. The showcase is open to students grades preschool to twelfth. Prizes will be awarded for top projects\, and a $25 gift card will be given to all entrants. \nJudging will be held from 9-11:30 am on August 2\, and the showcase will be open to the public on August 3.
