Citizen Potawatomi Nation member Helen Kusek, a resident of Guthrie, Oklahoma, talks about being selected as an alternate Oklahoma delegate to the Democratic Party National Convention, scheduled for September 2-6, 2012 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ms. Kusek discusses the need for all U.S. citizens to be politically active. She says her interest in political activity is driven by women’s issues, such as attempt to de-fund Planned Parenthood, which provides much-needed health services to millions of women.
