The Citizen Potawatomi Nation Public Works Department maintains public infrastructure, water and wastewater line maintenance inside the Tribe’s jurisdiction. The vast majority of this work centers on the upkeep and expansion of Pottawatomie County Rural Water District 3. The state-chartered rural water district serves nearly all CPN facilities and communities throughout the county including Dale, Wanette and Asher.
The Citizen Potawatomi Nation Public Information Department’s primary goal is to communicate the work of more than 30 Tribal government programs and commercial enterprises through traditional and online platforms. The department publishes the Hownikan, a monthly Tribal newspaper with a circulation of 12,000. Additionally, staff support internal-Tribal government executive and legislative branch activities while monitoring legislation at the local, state and federal levels of government.
