Brain Tanning Workshop

October 20 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Brain tanning is part science and part art. It has been an important craft for many Indigenous peoples including the Neshnabek (Potawatomi) over the millennia. We invite you to come take part in learning about the science and craft of brain tanning. In this workshop you will get hands with the different parts of the process involved in this age old tradition. All you need to bring is your interest in learning and getting your hands dirty. Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

This is a second session following an informational session prior to this hands on workshop. The informational session will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the CPN Cultural Heritage Center Long Room.
