Brain Tanning Informational Session

October 13, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Due to weather, this event has been moved inside to the Cultural Heritage Center Long Room. This will now be an informational session in preparation for a tanning workshop on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Brain tanning is part science and part art. It has been an important craft for many Indigenous peoples including the Neshnabek (Potawatomi) over the millennia. We invite you to come take part in learning about the science and craft of brain tanning. In this workshop you will get hands with the different parts of the process involved in this age old tradition. All you need to bring is your interest in learning and getting your hands dirty. Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
