Shawnee, Okla. – Pull on your blue jeans, dust off your boots, grab your cowboy hat, and make plans to help the Citizen Potawatomi Nation’s FireLake Grand Casino welcome back Country Music star Blake Shelton on July 2, 2010. “We are pleased to welcome Blake Shelton back to the FireLake Grand Casino Events Center,” said Brad Peltier, Director of Marketing at FireLake Grand. “He continues to be one of country music’s premiere entertainers and vocalists.”

Born in Ada, Oklahoma, Blake Shelton set his goal early for a career in country music. While still in high school, he entertained in the Oklahoma City clubs and at special events. When Ada honored Mae Axton, who wrote “Heartbreak Hotel” for Elvis Presley, Blake wowed her with his musical talent. She encouraged him to move to Nashville and offered to help him get a record deal. As a result, two weeks after his high school graduation, he made that move.

Shelton was able to work with Earl Thomas Conley, Hoyt Axton, Bobby Braddock, and others.  When he recorded this debut single “Austin,” he found his name at the top of the charts.

More hits followed, including “Nobody But Me,” “Some Beach,” “The More I Drink,” “Ol’ Red,” and many others. Although “Ol’ Red” wasn’t a huge radio hit, it became Shelton’s signature song.  He says it is the one people request during concerts.

On his newest album, Hillbilly Bone, Shelton teams up with Trace Adkins to deliver “pure hillbilly energy.”  “It’s an energy-packed little album,” he says with a laugh. “It’s also about being this guy people are finding out about, which is who I’ve always been,” he says. “It’s really going to help define a different mood for me.”

Blake Shelton recently made Country Music headlines by proposing marriage to another Country star, Miranda Lambert, after calling her father for permission.
