WIC clinic receives prestigious award

During World Breastfeeding Week in August 2023, Citizen Potawatomi Nation’s South Oklahoma City Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Clinic received a gold award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service for exemplary breastfeeding support and practices.

Library system donates books to CPN

Thanks to community members logging millions of minutes reading, Citizen Potawatomi Nation benefited from a donation of 2,128 books from the Pioneer Library System (PLS).

National Nutrition Month highlighted by CPN services, members

March is National Nutrition Month, and it presents the opportunity to reconsider what constitutes a healthy diet and bodily well-being on a wider level. The Hownikan spoke with CPN’s Women, Infants and Children program about advice and resources for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers; a Tribal member who, as a chef, works to offer nutritious foods in a restaurant setting; and the CPN Title VI Program, which offers elders options while meeting new nutritional needs that come with age.

WIC programs uplift families

CPN’s Women, Infant and Children’s programs found new and innovative ways to continue serving clients across 7 counties in central OK during the pandemic. WIC assists more than 1,400 individuals each month, providing access to nutritious foods & education to low & moderate-income clients.

WIC program acquires van for mobile clinic
