Growth through the ashes of disaster

It took around six to eight months for Shawnee Cleaners & Linen to reopen their doors after a disastrous fire. Throughout the last few years, things have begun looking up for the Yancey family, and in December of 2019, they opened two new locations with the help of the Citizen Potawatomi Community Development Corporation, expanding to three across two cities.

Before removal west, Louis Vieux and his family were prominent fur traders around the Great Lakes. They continued trading after removal to Council Bluffs in present-day Iowa, and the family’s business ideals followed them to the Potawatomi reservation in northeastern Kansas.

Pro-Pipe USA breaks ground at Iron Horse

Tribal leaders, congressional representatives and local officials welcomed Canadian firm Pro-Pipe USA LLC to the Citizen Potawatomi Nation in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, for the pipeline manufacturer’s groundbreaking ceremony at Iron Horse Industrial Park.
