A Public Hearing is scheduled for 10:00 AM., Monday, June 8th, 2026, in the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Workforce & Social Services conference room, 1549 Workforce Drive, Shawnee, OK 74801. This is a Public Hearing regarding the Nation’s Housing grant applications (IHBG & ICDBG).
- 2027 Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) to solicit comments on a funding application. The 2027 IHBG grant application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development proposes completion of new housing units and housing services for the benefit of the tribal community. Attendees will be provided information concerning the amount of funds available for the proposed housing project and the range of activities that may be undertaken. Residents will be given an opportunity to submit comments on the Tribe’s performance under any active community grants.
- CSBG (Community Services Block Grant) A grant from Health & Human Services, Administration for Children & Families and operated through the Citizen Potawatomi Nation P.L. 102-477 Plan. The funds are used to help Native American households in poverty who reside within the CPN’s Workforce & Social Service area which includes the counties of Pottawatomie, Lincoln, Payne, Cleveland, Seminole, and Oklahoma (east of Post Road). The income-based assistance will be used for gas vouchers to travel to/from out-of-town doctor’s appointments, and other needs directly impacting the safety and health of the individual such as utility bills, rent payments, and repair or replacement of appliances such as a refrigerator needed for storing medicine. Assistance will be prioritized based on the availability of funding. Pending congressional authorization and availability of funds. Other restrictions apply.
- LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program & Leveraging Program) A grant from Health & Human Services, Community Services. This grant is used to assist with paying utility bills (heating or cooling, depending on the time of year). Native Americans whose income does not exceed 60% of the State Median Income or 150% of poverty (whichever is greater) and who reside in the Workforce & Social Service area consisting of the counties of Pottawatomie, Lincoln, Payne, Cleveland, Seminole, and Oklahoma (east of Post Road) may be eligible if otherwise unserved. Special consideration is given to households with elderly and/or disabled members, children age 5 and under, and those households whose utility burden meets the CPN definition of crisis. Other restrictions apply. Through special efforts to leverage the funds, an additional “leveraging” award may be received. Weatherization activities will be described and the grant application details will be discussed pending congressional authorization and availability of funds. Other restrictions apply.
