Dr. Nancy Iverson, a San Francisco pediatrician, discusses her PATHSTAR program, which takes young people from the Pine Ridge reservation in her native South Dakota to make the annual Alcatraz Island to San Francisco swim. Dr. Iverson also uses the week of the swim to teach the Indian youngsters some basics of eating healthful foods.
