TNAS guest Brenda Golden (Mvskoke) is one of the founders of the grassroots activist organization S.P.I.R.I.T. (Society to Protect Indigenous Rights & Indigenous Treaties). Golden says SPIRIT will host its 2012 planning meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28 at the City Arts Center at 3000 Gen. Pershing Blvd. on the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds. Golden says SPIRIT supporters will decide on the focus of 2012 activities, such as lobbying the state legislature to de-emphasize the Oklahoma land runs which took land form Indians as state history is taught to Oklahoma school students or holding another state capitol event to bring attention to racist prosecution of Indians.
