Bozho,

During the CPN Festival in June we signed up about 80 members. Many veterans, tribal members and spouses of tribal members were excited about becoming or renewing their membership. They were proud to be recognized as veterans. Veterans and active duty military and active reserves are eligible for membership in the CPN VeteransOrganization. We are especially in need of local members, we have members coming from as far away as Guthrie, who would like to get involved with our color guard and honor guard activities. Remember ours is a family oriented organization and our meetings are a social event where we share stories and experiences and just enjoy being with other veterans. Business is kept to a minimum so it won’t be a dry, boring get-together, but we like to share important benefit information that will be helpful to veterans.

One thing that is important for all veterans is signing up with the VA and getting on their roster and keeping your information updated and your listing current. Steve Webb is our veterans service representative and he has an office in the new CPN Work Force and Social Services Building located east of the CPN Administration Building at 1601 S. Gordon Cooper Drive, Shawnee, OK 74801.

Steve is in this office on the first and third Monday of each month and every Tuesday in his office at Work Force Development Office at Gordon Cooper Technology Center Campus on North Harrison in Shawnee. He can be contacted by the following:

Cell: (918) 397-2566

Remember the CPN Veterans Organization meets every month on the fourth Tuesday at 6 p.m. (or as soon as you can get there) in the North Reunion Hall on the Potawatomi Powwow Grounds. All CPN veterans and their families are welcome. A meal is provided.

If you need to contact a member of the veterans organization, I can be reached at talbotok@sbcglobal.net and our Treasurer David Barrett can be reached at dbarrett@potawatomi.org.
