The Citizen Potawatomi Nation will host a fundraiser to help provide storm shelters for schools in Pottawatomie County on May 3, 2014. Speakers at the event will include Tyler Bridges, superintendent for Pleasant Grove Schools and Shane Jett, Congressional District 5 candidate.

The event will include a dinner, silent auction and live auction and live entertainment. The cost for the event is $75 per ticket or $1,000 for a table of eight. Sponsorships are also available.

“We believe that when Oklahomans know of a need, they come together to meet that need,” said Citizen Potawatomi Nation Vice-Chairman Linda Capps. “The safety of our children is our greatest priority as spring weather becomes a threat again this year. When the community has asked us for help we’ve always tried our best to lend a hand. This fundraiser will allow us to do that and also encourage others in the community to help.”

A survey of Oklahoma schools showed that more than half a million students and teachers at Oklahoma schools will not be protected in the event of severe weather.

“It’s time that we protect our most valuable and most vulnerable while they are in our schools,” added Capps. “It is our responsibility to help however we can.”

The event will be hosted at The Ballroom located inside Grand Casino Hotel and Resort. Visit www.grandboxoffice.com to purchase tickets or email tmcmillan@cpngc.org for sponsorship information.
