Business Development Program
The CPCDC helps clients evaluate business ideas and establish a plan to turn those ideas into a reality.
Whether the venture is a start-up operation or the expansion of an existing business – training and/or one-on-one assistance can help your business grow more efficient, productive and profitable. Individual counseling is an integral component of the strategy for helping Native American business owners gain the capacity to successfully operate their business concerns. In addition to one-on-one counseling, clients may the opportunity to take advantage of programs offered by Gordon Cooper Technology Center and/or the Potawatomi Business Network – a cadre of active professionals in critical business areas such as accounting, law and marketing.
The CPCDC provides assistance in the following areas of business:
Structuring the business Conducting market research Developing marketing strategies Understanding general contracts Creating a strategic plan |
Managing finances Developing a business plan Preparing a loan application Business legal issues Government contracting |
Through individual consultation and/or workshop instruction, the CPCDC effectively teach its clients how to conduct market research, prepare a business plan, structure their business, gain financing, set up an accounting system and manage their employees.
Financial Education & Credit Counseling
The CPCDC actively partners with Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Central Oklahoma (CCCS).
This partnership provides credit consultation, debt management planning and impacts CPCDC clients in the following ways:
Creates a financial well-being
Enables the ability to establish banking relationships
Creates a more stable present and a more secure future
Creates the ability to make educated financial decisions
Asset Builders Matched Savings Program
The CPCDC helps participants accumulate the assets necessary for business start-up or expansion. This program encourages participants to save regularly, practice fiscal self-discipline and use sound budgeting practices. The CPCDC helps clients create an Individual Development Account (IDA) – a matched savings account designed to help families and individuals save for things that will help them build their futures. Participants earn a “savings match” of 2:1 by saving their own hard-earned dollars and attending monthly finance classes throughout the 12-24 month program. (Maximum participant contribution: $75 per month)
Qualifications for Asset Builders Applicants:
Must be over the age of 18
Member of a Federally Recognized Native American Indian Tribe
(Preference will be given to Citizen Potawatomi members)
Must reside in Pottawatomie County or its five contiguous counties
Must be need based: low-to-moderate income individuals targeted
Be willing to commit to a 12 - 24 month goal specific training and savings program
(Applications accepted annually.)

Commercial Loan Program
The CPCDC differentiates itself in four distinct ways that that of its conventional banking counterparts. It utilizes a more lenient credit analysis, in many cases requires less upfront capital from business owners and can allow a longer amortization period creating more flexible repayment terms. Most importantly, the CPCDC helps provide the technical assistance necessary to develop the skills needed to keep a business soluble and profitable.
The CPCDC provides funding for the following business purposes:
Commercial real estate acquisition
Commercial real estate refurbishment
Equipment
Inventory
Supplies
Working capital
The CPCDC prides itself in nurturing business of all sizes with loans in its portfolio as small as $5,000. On the other end of the spectrum, the CPCDC can independently offer loan funding up to $200,000. Credit requests in excess of $200,000 may be facilitated by the CPCDC, but will require participation from other financial entities.

National American Indian/Alaskan Native Business Opportunity & Workforce Development Center
In partnership with the Federal Highway Administration, the CPCDC strives to improve opportunities for Native Americans to operate their own businesses and improve their skills and training specifically in the highway construction.
The CPCDC helps tribal and individuals obtain the following:
