FireLake Wellness Center
The FireLake Wellness Center is a private Native American wellness and fitness facility that embraces diabetic education, nutrition, and exercise. The Wellness Center staff works in conjunction with the Diabetic Initiative Team and nutritionists on a daily basis to help educate the Native American community about the importance of overall health and wellness.
The FireLake Wellness Center is approximately 21,500 square feet. Within that area, 7,000 square feet is dedicated to our upstairs walking track, storage, and office. The walking track is a carpeted and padded area that overlooks the exercise floor and features a semi-enclosed stretching area.
The other 14,000 square feet is divided into the Title VI Elders Program and the Exercise/Wellness/Diabetic Initiative Program.
The Title VI Elders Program is housed in 6,000 square feet. This program offers a variety of services to the elder Native American community. The Elders Program provides lunches, transportation, excursion trips, and BINGO!!
This program also includes the Caregivers Program. This program provides support groups, respite care, and informational tools for caregivers for the elderly.
The remaining 8,500 square feet is home to the Diabetic Initiative Program and the Wellness/Fitness Center. The Diabetic Initiative Program provides testing supplies, foot care, nutrition education, and diabetes education. It also participates in the annual Native Youth Preventing Diabetes (NYPD) Kids Camp. It is involved with area schools, informing school-age children on diabetes prevention, healthy food alternatives, and exercise.
The fitness center is the last piece of the puzzle. The wellness/fitness center staff works closely with each individual to help customize an individualized exercise program that will help meet the your fitness goals. Trained personnel work closely with each client to ensure your safety and comfort. We are equipped with the most popular state-of-the-art CYBEX exercise equipment. We have treadmills, Arc Trainers, stationary bicycles, free weight dumbbells, and muscular/endurance weight training equipment. The Wellness Center also houses a 30x30 heated therapy pool, a 30x22 aerobics room, and separate locker rooms for men and women. Each locker room is equipped with a sauna, showers, and lockers.
