Potawatomi Leadership Program

The Potawatomi Leadership Program (PLP) is designed to educate, inform, and encourage qualified Potawatomi students and to develop within the tribal membership at large a more accurate perception of the tribe and its operations.

The 2008 PLP term date is still to be determined.  Typically the internship is for 6 weeks in teh summer beginning the week of the Family Reunion Festival and completing around the second week of August. Interns must attend from the first day to the last day – no exceptions! All interns are expected to stay at the housing provided by CPN throughout the program, including weekends. All interns are expected to dress in a businesslike fashion while at work unless given specific instructions to dress casually for comfort. (Funds are available through our Employment & Training Program to provide the intern with a basic business wardrobe; however, to take advantage of this resource, arrangements should be made immediately upon acceptance to the program.)

Program participants, called “interns,” may, if they choose, receive transferable college credit for attending the program. Modest earnings accrue throughout the 8-week program and are paid out at the end of the program.
